Justice must be served in this case," said Ali’s Lackawanna soccer coach Abdul Moman. Cheektowaga police did arrest the 15-year-old girl who killed Khalid Ali. Also arrested: the girl's mother who was home at the time of the shooting. "Our detective bureau has worked this case diligently," said Cheektowaga Police Captain John Glascott. It was Saturday night. Cheektowaga police say 39-year-old Norma Geil hosted a party for a bunch of teenagers at her Ivanhoe Road home. "We know there was a lot of drinking going on. We know there were a lot of intoxicated kids. We know there was marijuana being smoked. My understanding is that she (Geil) participated in the drinking. She even poured some of the drinks. I do believe she also may have been involved in smoking some of the marijuana herself," said Captain Glascott. Police say partygoers brought at least three guns to the party. Then, at two in the morning, four teens were asked to leave on purpose according to cops, so that another group of kids could rob them outside. "We believe it was intentional on the parts of several other people to ask them to leave with the intent of getting them to the end of the block, they would be robbed. One of the weapons used in that robbery, was the weapon that eventually was used to Khalid," added the Cheektowaga Police Captain. Police believe Khalid Ali had nothing to do with that robbery. But twelve hours later, at roughly two in the afternoon on Sunday, police say the 15-year-old girl was playing with that gun in a bedroom when it went off. "Some of these people who attended the party the night before, were involved in a lot of horseplay in a bedroom in the house, when this gun goes off and kills Khalid. At this time we don't believe there was intent on her part to kill anybody, but there was some screwing around. She (the 15-year-old girl) was the one that was holding the gun when it went off and killed Khalid," said Captain Gascott. Police charged Norma Geil with endangering the welfare of a child, making false statements, and reckless endangerment. Her 15-year-old daughter was charged with juvenile delinquency. "I'm so happy. I trust the U.S. justice. If somebody does some bad things, or breaks the law, they have to be arrested," said Khalid Ali’s father Ali Albadri. "This is a good thing that they arrest the mother. This is a good thing for us. And we thank them (the police) for that. We say thank you to them for arresting the girl and the mother, and we will see what will happen next. We all feel good about this happening. I feel like my brother is right next to me. I felt something in my heart," said Khalid Ali’s brother Ahmed Ali. All three charged are expected to be arraigned on Thursday. Khalid Ali's parents were born in Iraq. His family fled that country for Kuwait, where Khalid was born, and came to the Queen City six years ago. Khalid Ali's body will be buried in his family's homeland of Iraq.
