I wrote this song for the love of my life in 1975. It’s has a simple message: you make me a better man.

Ira brings the song to life with a sweet yet potent innocence. It was the song he wanted most to sing on the album.

When I heard Marcos Perez II sing last year I knew his voice was perfect for “It’s Raining Again”. His sultry and passionate voice lends itself beautifully to the moody vibe and the powerful feeling of losing someone very special in our lives.

Walking Alone

When I wrote this song I visualized a buxom, hooker strutting down the pulsating streets of West Hollywood: hips swaying; breasts rippling against her seductive, rhythmic swagger; heals clacking against the concrete . . . . the song practically wrote itself.

Dean Lining was the clear choice to sing “For All Time” because of his impressive vocal range and the pure tonal quality of his instrument. Dean performs in the Palm Springs area mainly with just his voice and a ukulele.

The Memories I Paint Of You

This song was the inspiration for the musical I’ve written about the extraordinary life of Peggy Guggenheim. Besides being promiscuous, headstrong, impulsive and quite wealthy (though she considered herself a “poor Guggenheim”), Peggy managed to assemble one of the finest collections of modern art in the world. The song appears towards the end of the second act. Peggy sings the song about the one man in the world she was meant to love but never found.

I sing the song but it was written for a woman with a strong alto voice.

I actually wrote and have a copyright for this song from 1987. However, after I recently notated the full piano score I took out another copyright in 2011. My husband Ira wrote the words and I wrote the music based on his words. This is the instrumental version.

Phillip Sebastian Petrie is life-long, dear friend and talented actor. I wrote To Be Near You for him to sing at auditions – hoping it would help him stand out from the others auditioning who tend to sing the same old, tired Broadway tunes. Phillip sings the vocal on this song.

Hidden Passions

I wrote this song for my niece Gail. She is a woman completely controlled by her passion. I’m not talking about sexual passion. I am referring to life’s passion. Gail wears her heart on her sleeve and you can see her zest for life in her eyes as they sparkle with fire or delight.

Valley Of The Rose

My father-in-law, Maurice Rosenthal, was like a second father to me. He was born in Egypt and immigrated to the United States when he was a young man. He spoke 7 languages and showered his family with love and devotion. I was inspired to write “Valley Of The Rose” because of his unwavering love, his playfulness and his strong Jewish background.

By the way, “Valley Of The Rose” is completely synthesized. The song was created by entering notes into Finale notation software. The piano and clarinet you hear are virtual instruments playing from the sheet music.
